Skinny Dipping

I am super excited and proud to share the creative work of the fabulous Katie Magnet, Twitter Star and  the most beautiful person I have ever had the pleasure to meet. I simply love her, her spirit, her courage and her soul.

I see you watching, from the shore

Wanting, needing, so much more.

Wondering, just how deep,

You need to plunge, to feel my heat.

I know, you want my caress.

To feel me encase every inch of flesh.

I need my love to come to me,

Dive in to the very core of me.

Feel me touch, your smooth skin.

Take you, surround you, deeper in.

Lose control and ride the tide.

Feel me, need me, for all time.

Dive deeper,dance with my soul.

As two become one and whole.

Join with me, as our spirits soar

And we disappear from the shore.

I Could Write You…

I could write you into stories, poetry or ryhme. Or I could say I think of you all the time. I could say I love you, like the stars love the night. Or how the Earth craves Sun Light. Yet I keep the secrets of us locked in my heart, lest such things cause it all to fall apart.

Shadow Man

I see you, Shadowman, silently watching, waiting to pounce. A hungry ghost prowling the corridors of night. Would you feed on me and leave my heart to bleed? I am no sacrifice to be laid out on the altar of your tainted love. I see you…

IF by Rudyard Kipling & read by Dave Thomas

Written in 1920 the poem is a timeless classic and is a perfect example of Stoicism. It was first published in ‘Rewards and Fairies’.

This much loved poem is beautifully read by the Podcaster, Dave Thomas, from Walk The Talk

If you can keep your head when all about you

   Are losing theirs and blaming it on you;

If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you,

   But make allowance for their doubting too;

If you can wait and not be tired by waiting,

Or, being lied about, don’t deal in lies,

Or, being hated, don’t give way to hating,

   And yet don’t look too good, nor talk too wise;

If you can dream—and not make dreams your master;

   If you can think—and not make thoughts your aim;

If you can meet with triumph and disaster

   And treat those two impostors just the same;

If you can bear to hear the truth you’ve spoken

Twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools,

Or watch the things you gave your life to broken,

   And stoop and build ’em up with wornout tools;

If you can make one heap of all your winnings

And risk it on one turn of pitch-and-toss,

And lose, and start again at your beginnings

   And never breathe a word about your loss;

If you can force your heart and nerve and sinew

To serve your turn long after they are gone,

And so hold on when there is nothing in you

   Except the Will which says to them: “Hold on”;

If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue,

   Or walk with kings—nor lose the common touch;

If neither foes nor loving friends can hurt you;

   If all men count with you, but none too much;

If you can fill the unforgiving minute

With sixty seconds’ worth of distance run—

Yours is the Earth and everything that’s in it,

And—which is more—you’ll be a Man, my son!

I closed my eyes, felt the touch of her cashmere kiss upon my face as she traced my lips with velvet finger tips. In that moment, I was lost. There was no going back. My gentle Lady had wrapped me in a gossamer blanket of love.

All Alone

person reaching for glow in the dark sticks

All alone…

I held the hurt, I held the pain and all their sorrows

I saw such horror, and tears that fell as bitter rain

I stood tall, whoever they were, I Protected them all

All alone…

With rocks and stones began building my fortress home

Wanting to shout, wanting to yell but who could I tell

I was not living, I was burning in hell

All alone…

The dreams shook me from my sleep

Mind Movies, play again, they never cease

There is no peace, the trauma runs too deep

All alone…

One dark day the storm clouds came riding in

I looked down from the Tower I had built so high

The edge of a precipice, I fall or find my wings and fly

All alone…

Saturated by sorrow, I could hold no more

My Tower was now a prison and not a sanctuary

I had lost the key and was afraid to open the door

All alone…

My broken heart began to race, tomorrow I could not face

I believe an Angel of Light heard the calling of my Soul

On wings of Love she took me to blue skies above

No longer alone…

I was in a diaphanous castle in the Sky

The answers to my questions, all the reasons why

All the brutality, needless deaths and goodbyes

No longer alone…

A Lady of infinite beauty listened patiently as it all poured out

First a whisper and then a shout. Kindness too much to bare

The dam burst, I saw in her eyes such tender love and care

No longer alone…

Reflected in the eyes of the Goddess of all Humanity

I saw such deep empathy, compassion and love…I saw me!

I saw the rhyme and reason, watched my life unfold

She whispered my story needed to be told

So those walking a Protector’s path far from Home

Know they are Divinely Protected and NEVER alone

For we come from Love and will return to Love. Only Love is real.

Dream Dancer ✨

Image:Pixabay

The Day is done, tired thoughts slowly fade to grey. Do you find comfort, as you lay down your weary head on the island of your bed? Drifting on the shifting sands of reality upon the shores of sleep. The Sandman will soon take you sailing into the void and blessed oblivion of the deep.

Catch the Moon beams as they come dancing in a playful game, glancing off the window panes, across the ceiling and upon the walls. They turn the darkness of your room into sacred, hallowed halls.

For in twilight hours and liminal space, nothing is as it truly seems. Do you want to walk into the forest of the night? I will take you through numinous mists and midnight rays of Light, onto the field of dreams.

Lady La Luna’s tendrils weave Her gossamer, silken strands, enticing you back to the Heavens above. Entranced by the music of the night, dancing across the stars, into the arms of the pure Light of Love.

The Lady heard the yearning of your Soul to be free, to be whole. There is so much more to see, so much more for you to be! Forget life’s silent screams, believe in Magick and know that you are innocent when you dream.

With the rising of the sun, the mysteries of night are done. Leaving fragrant fragments like blossom on the breeze and the whisper of the trees, beyond reason, beyond rhyme. Moments that breathe, in fragile memories of the Truth, we only find by stepping outside time.

ALEXANDER WALLIS

One of my favourite Authors is Alexander Wallis, his book ‘The Way Knight’ is simply the best Fantasy Novel I have read, he writes lyrical prose with such depth, making even the dark and dangerous beautiful. I found out he is also an accomplished poet and am so excited Alex is sharing his verse with us on Edendene Books.

Alex
Alexander Wallis

JUST AS A CANDLE

Just as a candle doth soft bestow its light

And cast about its promise, even deeper pools of night

Thus is a whispered knowledge, sweet insight

Cast without sound to make the heart excite.

Shadows like robes may clothe our souls tonight

Sorrows and foes may every moment blight

Yet stars have a constellation, to hope ignite

They do not chose, but know them at first sight.

THE VAMPIRE QUEEN LENORA

From the ancient castle sung

The vampire queen, Lenora.

Her song evoked the tragedies

Of every soul who saw her.

Ravens were her company

And spiders were her spies,

And by her side a blind man stood

Whose blood trailed from his eyes.

‘Oh, Lenora. Marry me!’

Her knight, Cervantes, dared.

He had scaled the battlements

Black roses in his pail.

‘Be not alone, for I have roamed

The kingdom in thy name.

Of all your knights, I love you best.

Deny me not – for shame.’

Lenora’s lips revealed her teeth

Her eyes sad as the grave,

‘Cervantes, do you see the man

Upon the palisade?’

Cervantes looked but only saw

A titan hewn from rock

‘But that is just a statue

And it has a cherub’s cock.’

The queen picked out a single rose

Plucked petals to the bone

‘I must possess me such a man

Be he God, or hewn from stone.’

‘Mi’lady,’ her brave champion growled

‘No perfect thing can love

For it is pain and weakness that

Stirs feelings from above.’

Lenora kissed her knight, ‘Good sir,

I do treasure your valour

But I must find the perfect king

Such as stands upon yon tower’

And so the knight stood lowly watch

While Lenora’s voice took flight

Both with longing in their hearts

In the dark song of the night.

WINTERS ROSE

Snow falls upon a rose

Season of immortality.

Winter’s kiss on frosty beauty

Petal and thorn adorned equally.

Snow and rose – a perfect moment

Ravaged by time and mortality.

Snow dies, young rose lives on

Will you remember me?

The Way Knight is available as both paperback & Kindle editions on Amazon

This was my review:-

“I am the crown of eternal stars, I am the armour forged from scars…”

Just finished reading this brilliant Dark Fantasy tale and am in awe of the author’s writing skill, it is a masterclass in storytelling.

This was my first foray into the dark fantasy genre and I was not sure if it would be for me, but from the first page I was gripped, staying up into the small hours reading, total immersed in the gothic and dystopian landscape, populated by rich characterisation.

The story centres around a young woman, Daimonia, who after a traumatic event sets off on a perilous quest to reconnect with her powerful Mother who is a Captain in a far flung Garrison. She is accompanied across a bloody and brutal landscape by Goodkin, a Way Knight, charged with protecting her and the other travellers in their company. There are powerful enemies and foes along the way. And thus the adventures begin.

I don’t want to give any plot spoilers, as the story is fast paced with each scene incredibly well written, the narrative is a flowing river of eloquent words. The ending is one of the best I have read. Totally griping. Following one of the most delicately written and emotive chapters in the book, it was a shocking and crashing crescendo. A totally unexpected finale and so satisyingly good.

The Way Knight is bloody, brutal, beautiful and brilliant. I loved it and the characters Daimonia and Goodkin stepped off the page and lit up my imagination. If it were possible to give 10 stars I would. Read for yourself. It is excellent!

Winter of my Heart

In the winter of my broken heart, I lay down to rest in the harsh embrace of the cold, hard ground. I am so near and yet so far, whisper your name, but you do not hear. Earthbound, alone with just fragrant fragments and memories of lost love. I watch the seasons pass like Blossom on the breeze from the cold comfort of my Country Churchyard.

Wanted your Lover’s game darker.

Swooped and took your white Knight.

Two Rivers

photo of person across the london bridge
Photo by Maël BALLAND on Pexels.com

Alone in London, I stand by Tower Bridge. Old Father Thames hears my thoughts of you and how deeply I am falling. Wise is he, takes them rippling on the current down to the endless sea.

Somewhere far away in a Northern land, you are standing too, on your bridge of stone and steel beside a Castle Keep. Do I imagine that I  hear you calling and feel you reaching through the ethers  for my hand?

Day is fading and our City lights flicker into life. Do they hear the music of the night? And meet with moon beams upon the waters where both our ancient rivers flow? What stories do they share and what secrets do they know?

Perhaps they speak of Lovers hearts taking flight to meet upon the Bridge across forever. A special place, lost in time, where we come together. In the heat of the night, two rivers meet and our bodies entwine to dance upon the glory of the Tyne.

Prisoner To Love

She gave him the keys to a hidden place, deep within the chambers of her heart. No Angel from above was he. Laughing at his wicked game, he pushed her hard, closed the door, took the keys and ran. Fallen from grace, head bowed in shame, she lay bleeding on the floor. No one heard her silent screams of pain or saw the tears falling, bitter rain. Fooled by an adept of the dark arts, left to die, a lonely prisoner to love.

She wore Angel Wings & A Goddess’ Crown

Sir Edward Coley Burne-Jones ~”Aurora”

Born of the Sun, the Moon and soft starlight

Her radiant beauty beguiled the very Night

Celestial gods and goddesses loved her dear

In the garden of her heart only love grew

Mortals caused pain and tears with their roses

Blackened with mendacious, vicious thorns

The thorns pierced her tender Angel heart

Deep scars causing her very soul to bleed

Drops of ruby red fell on cold, stony ground

Shattered seeds of all her broken dreams

Celestial Beings poured Light on the fragments of Her

And as a Firebird she rose from ashes and dust

Blazing a cosmic trail of magic and stardust.

Reborn, replenished, renewed, Restored

Flame haired beauty sang her Divine songs

Human hearts heard and wept their pain away

Into an infinite ocean of Her eternal Love

For She wore both Angel wings and a Goddess’ crown.

The Summoning

Image by Brigitte Werner from Pixabay

The Lady beckons to you beguilingly. Obsidian eyes, flashing danger and delight. Her smile, enigmatic, promising delicious secrets to be shared. Tresses of sun kissed silken strands of gold, a river flowing down her innocent back. Mixed messages carried on an air of danger. Fascinated, intrigued you draw near.

She is an enigmatic paradox, formed from Light and Dark. Blessed by sunlight’s golden rays and kissed by the midnight hour, black magick and the devil’s claw. Heavenly Angel, hellfire Demon. Was her Soul star born in the fiery firmaments above or forged somewhere north of Midnight?

Her essence envelopes you. She is not physically there, yet she is everywhere. On your skin, in your mind, you feel her Presence. Bringing both delights and torments. You love her. You hate her. Want her and need her, repulsed at meeting the devil within fearing possession you push her away.

Is she a Succubus, or a figment of fragmented wanton lust rampaging through the caverns of your ravaged mind? Or is she a witch, adept at the Dark Arts and  enchantment has placed you under her eternal spell? ✨

The Precipice

Beautiful image: Pixabay.com

The precipice, a perilous place, far beyond the safe confines of the city walls and the hinterlands of right and wrong.

Inexorably pulled to the edge of decision, Chase stood hypnotised by angry crashing waves, pounding heart beats upon a lonely shore.

Far out to sea, he heard her call. Siren. Temptress. One leap forward into the unknown, falling, tumbling into her dark depths and he would be free to ride upon passion’s tumultuous waves.

Or one step back from the beckoning, beguiling edge of danger…one step back into the barren wastelands of his life.

She danced in his mind, work and play

Waiting for the witching Midnight hour

To cast the spell of love’s magic power

She Will Rise

She cried out in the night

He was the one who heard

But chose to turn his back

She lay broken on the floor

Whilst he just walked away

Alone, she tends her wounds

Her tears may fall, bitter rain

She is woman, she will rise…

Word Weaver

Taking silken gossamer threads

The word weaver wove them into

A beautiful sensual illusion of Love

Until the fabric of dreams lay

Tattered and torn on vicious thorns

Of reality…

The Wisdom Of The Trees

I am delighted to welcome a super guest to Edendene Books and share with you all this beautiful poem on the beauty and magic of nature by my Texan Twitter friend Just~Randy😎 @jafah2012

Each day as I walk

I hear the trees and their talk

I listen to their stories

And marvel at their glories

For they’ve weathered each storm and greeted every moon

And yet they still stand tall full in bloom

Sometimes they whisper

Others they stand still

But they never steer me wrong

And my walks seem less long..

Fireflies and Faraway Eyes

He was a Hero, battle scarred and worn.

Heart frozen in the hinterlands of winter.

Feelings imprisoned under lock and key

Eyes unable to leave behind sights unseen

Inside, the silent scream trapped in his mind

Tainted by filthy dirt and detritus of mankind

A fallen Angel, broken wings ravaged and torn.

Until he met her, the girl with faraway eyes.

Her smile held the promise of Summer days

Beguiled by beauty, trusting in innocent love

He stepped from the darkness into her Light

Intrigued by the mysteries of night, he followed

Golden fireflies into the heart of her forest

They danced, sang and drank sacred wine

By firelight they lay beneath a Harvest moon

Earth and Sky became one in Hieros Gamos

He arose from the forest floor, a fallen Angel

Sanctified, restored by Grace, soared once more

No Words

No words, nothing was said

Just the feeling Love was dead

No tears, no blame, a crying shame

Saw the truth, just playing games

Trust could not live there anymore

Guarded hearts close open doors

Moonbeam

Image:Pixabay

As the moon pulls the tides of the seas and the oceans, do you feel me, my love, coming to you as warm waves washing upon the shores of your dreams?

I bring to you unspoken driftwood gifts of love, trust and eternal devotion for you to find upon the shifting sands of your lonely shore.

Do you feel the essence of me, playing softly on your skin, dancing and delighting in you, my touch silken as a soft moonbeam.

And in your waking hours will you remember fragments of a fragrant dream, where we danced on water beneath a Lovers moon?

Silent Scream

Lonely heart.jpg
Beautiful Image by Kellepics on Pixabay

Lost in the forests of the night

No sun, no moon or soft starlight

Lonely life but a waking dream

No one hears the silent scream

Searching for the hand of Grace

Reaching down to this heavy place

Fragile heart broken beyond repair

Fragments scattering into the air

Fall bleeding onto the forest floor

Broken body and lost soul no more

Bittersweet Symphony

Knowing you did me wrong

I penned the lyrics to a song

Oh the sweetest agony

Of your truth and lies

Behind innocent eyes

You played me hot

You played me cold

Who would you choose

Could I bear to lose?

Was it her? Was it me?

Was I your Queen

Was she your scene?

What are you to me?

A bittersweet symphony.

North of Midnight

Beguiled by her terrible beauty

And the lure of Obsidian eyes

I followed her essence willingly

Into a midnight velvet world

Only to find my beloved’s heart

Forged in a foundry of darkness

Somewhere North of Midnight

Had captured my eternal soul

Your name plays on…

For you are the notes

Field of Broken Dreams

Hidden in my heart

There is a magic field

Where wildflowers grow

From the scattered seeds

Of all my broken dreams…

Lament for a Lost Love

361px-George_elgar_hicks41
The Lament of Jephthahs Daughter (c1880) George Elgar Hicks

At the Twilight of the day

When the sun dies away

I see you standing there

Fading light upon your hair…

Feel me reach for your hands

Across time’s shifting sands

Beloved, come to me, I implore

Our Souls entwined evermore

Do I yearn for you in vain?

Do you not suffer as I do?

Hear me cry, feel my pain!

My aching Soul calls to you!

At the dying of the light

And the coming of the night

Like the ebb tide of the sea

You fade away from me…
